1. Why do you dislike #11 so much?
I just don't think it would ever work. Their personalities aren't compatible. Sakura is way to loud and pushy for someone as introverted as Sasuke.

I think when Sasuke comes back (and hopefully isn't jailed or executed) and goes on a looonng mission with Hinata. That's assuming he can still be a Konoha shinobi. For those who read my annual journal updates...

I can't believe it's over, and yet, in a strange and selfish way, I'm sort of glad. I've always been for never overdoing a good thing. I usually stay away from sequels because to me, they're overkill. They milk a good show/movie for all it's worth until you're absolutely sick of it and there's little substance left in it. I don't want that to happen to Avatar.

On that note, I prayed and wished like crazy for no epilogue. So far so good, no epilogue. It would have been a lot better if the show ended with Katara and Aang just hugging and holding hands, watching the sunset...and completely cutting out the Maiko (you'll never get me to like that emo ship.) I think the ambiguity gave the series it's charm. Enough to sustain us for the time being, but still making us want desert. I thought there was just enough mystery throughout the seasons to give us something to play with, and as a fanfic writer I greatly appreciated it. I only wish the resolution wasn't so black and white, because I felt the show was built off of gray.

The resolution? Ughh. Talk about too sweet. Did anyone else get a little...uneasy when Zuko started his peace and love speech? I know it made me squirm in my seat a little. It sounded like something Aang would say (and I think he should've said it instead of Zuko.) I know Zuko changed, but people can only change so much. Zuko's no flowery hippie.

I'm sort of interested in the politics that will be going on within the Fire Nation now. Come on, the Fire Nation people are not stupid. They've lived under Ozai's reign for many years. Prince Zuko was known as a traitor throughout the country, so it's unrealistic to believe that everyone will have a sudden change of heart when the banished prince takes the thrown.

One of the finale's best moments was the agni kai scene. OMG that was perfect. I'm thinking of recording just that part and watching it over and over again! The music was breathtaking, the martial arts were phenomenal, the animation was so shiny!!! It reminded me of that scene from the Lion King where Simba and Scar are fighting, with the dramatic music and hot embers flying everywhere. And to top it all off, ZUKO TOOK A BOLT OF LIGHTNING FOR KATARA!!! I was trying so hard not to squeal at that moment for fear of the people in the next-door apartment thinking the worst for me. And the way she ran over to him after fighting Azula to heal him was...wow. Not to mention seeing them standing together side by side as they watched Azula snap, it made my heart melt.

Oh lord, CrAzula. I seriously didn't think she could get any loonier. Man was I wrong. So she finally went off the deep end. It was apparent the moment she gave herself a haircut. It really makes me wonder what happened to her at the end (mental institution, anyone?)

Well it's obvious that Azula gets her personality from her father. It's also obvious that Zuko gets his looks from his father! Holy cow! Ozai is evil sex on legs. Although that guy was crazy and needed to get his ass kicked, I didn't appreciate the childish jabs at him after he was defeated. Actually I found it flat out tasteless...seriously.

Seeing the White Lotus society was....a;ldfja;lje Holy shit cool! Best resistance organization ever! And watching Iroh burn down that Fire Nation flag mad it tens time better.

Wow. I nearly cried during Zuko and Iroh's reunion. Actually I think I even shed a tear. It was so...emotional. And Zuko was crying. Oh my God he was crying. It really tugged at my heartstrings.

I LOVED the way Sokka, Suki, and Toph took out the Fire Nation air fleet. Recently I read another Bryke interview, and the question "who is the strongest character?" came up. Bryan said that Katara had the strongest heart, Toph was the toughest, Aang had the strongest spirituality, and Sokka had the strongest appetite. I'm not too sure how seriously I'm supposed to take this, but I think that's not giving Sokka the credit he deserves. The way he devised the plan to take out the entire air fleet and how wonderfully he executed it (with help of course) says a lot about his ingenuity. I always thought Sokka was the brains of the outfit. He is a lot more than just comic relief.

Which brings me to the battle scene between Aang and Ozai...just go with it. DBZ anyone? Lots of flying around and power ups it seemed like to me. However, I'm not surprised.

And WTF??? Energybending??? Magical lionturtle??? Who was high when they wrote this??? *****Naruto spoiler******* That's as bad as Sasuke's time and space jutsu!!!!!! *****End of spoiler****** I seriously think that Aang was cheated with that. Everyone else grew so much. Toph can now bend metal, Sokka's weapon wielding has improved, Zuko can redirect lightning AND he took Azula off her feet, Katara can blood bend, and what super cool skill did Aang learn? Nothing. Upon a lucky star Aang found this magical lion turtle who gave him magical avatar state powers out of nowhere, all previous knowledge ignored. Seems like a really bad plot device to let Aang stick to his principles about not killing Ozai, despite of what 4 other previous avatars told him. I don't know about all of you, but I think what makes a character more admirable is that they have to make sacrifices and occasionally throw their virtues out the window to get the job done. In the real world you don't always get what you want. It was sheer luck that Aang got poked in the back which opened his chakra gate. I mean, did he ever truly master the avatar state? The guru said that he would have to detach himself from desire, which INCLUDED Katara. He never did. So what does that mean? Gary Stu is what it means.

Which brings me to shipping..................

Okay, I've never been one for ship wars. I think they tend to paint the series like a soap opera (and I hate soap operas.) But the pomp I've been seeing from Kataangers and Maikos is just...unsavory. Does anyone have class anymore?

But with all the parading around and the told-ya-so dances, I can't help but laugh. Zutara has been my OTP since day one. I fell in love with it right after the first time I watched Avatar. It's libertine nature, rich and dark bittersweetness, and furious passion is what makes Zutara great. So is some saccharine ending with fluffy teenage kissy faces supposed to make me jump ship? Does that mean Zutara is dead? Hell no. I think a lot of Zutarians knew it wasn't going to be canon, but they loved it anyway for the reasons I stated before. Not only that, we've got the fandom. Our fanartists and fanfic authors rock!!!!!

So eat it up, those of you who brag. Take your candy coated kiss scenes and run with them. You can sing your Zutara is dead songs all you want, but the fact remains that Zutara will live on as long as the fandom does. Something that's canon doesn't force people to write or draw canon, and I know that all too well (none of my OTPs are canon.) Hell, I've already read 3 Zutarian fanfics that have held true to the finale, and they were wonderful.

So yes Bryke, Zutara is dark and intriguing. You might think that's why it can't work, but I think that's what makes it oh so right.
